Community National Schools are state run, publicly accountable primary schools which are managed by local Education and Training boards.

1. What are the key differences of a CNS?
No religious or cultural groups of beliefs are privileged over another- all are respected and supported.
Faith formation classes (First Holy Communion & Confirmation preparation) take place outside of the school day.
2. What replaces faith formation?
Community National Schools use the Goodness me, Goodness You (GMGY) programme.
The GMGY curriculum makes an important contribution in enabling each child to live their life to the full while exploring their identity and their place in the world.
3. Why is a Community National School the right choice for my family?
Community National Schools are multi- denominational, co-educational and child centred.
They are state run and publicly accountable.
The same Primary Curriculum Framework is taught in CNS schools as in all other state run schools in Ireland.
Community National Schools don't privilege any group, religion or culture over others.
There is no faith formation instruction during school hours.
Community National Schools have a strong community spirit.
