Patron's Programme
As
multi-denominational schools, community national schools don't
prioritise any set of beliefs over others, and instead teach the
Goodness Me, Goodness You programme.
Goodness
Me, Goodness You! (GMGY) is a multi-belief and values education
curriculum that has been developed for Community National Schools in
collaboration with children, parents and teachers of the schools, the
local Education and Training Boards, the Education and Training Board of
Ireland, the Department of Education and Youth and assisted by the
National Council for Curriculum and Assessment.
Through
GMGY, children explore identity education, values education, philosophy
and education "about" and "from" religions and beliefs.The
key difference between GMGY and religious school patron programmes is
that it teaches children about religion from a respectful, neutral
position, rather than encouraging children to adopt any specific set of
beliefs.
